Lidl US executives announced a plan to hire up to 1,000 temporary employees at its stores and distribution centers for at least two months. Arlington, Va.-based Lidl US partnered with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield so that newly hired employees without health insurance will immediately be eligible for a medical benefits program covering no-cost testing and treatment related to COVID-19 at no cost.
While restaurants in Maryland and Washington, D.C. have closed their dining rooms due to the coronavirus outbreak, they are still offering takeout and delivery. Others may have temporarily closed altogether for business reasons as COVID-19 continues to spread. And due to social distancing recommendations, all restaurants in the area are impacted in some way, including in Virgina. The best way to continue to support restaurants is by patronizing them, whether ordering food for eating at home or odering gift cards or gift certificates.
Gravitas began offering takeout and delivery. The menu comprises dishes prepared by the staff, representing their families and cultures. These hearty dishes are part of a just-released delivery and pick-up menu. The staff will also be sharing stories of their new dishes over the next few weeks.
