The popular Downtown Holiday Market returns to Washington, DC in 2021. The bazaar, operated by the DowntownDC Business Improvement District and Diverse Markets Management, starts November 19, as the holiday season kicks off. The 17th Annual Downtown Holiday Market will set up shop in Penn Quarter, covering two blocks with a worth-the-visit outdoor, winter wonderland.
Many DC-area restaurants will be extending their brunch service into Labor Day Monday. At Pisco y Nazca, its three-course, Peruvian-inspired brunch will be served and reservations are still available. At Richard Sandoval’s dLeña, bottomless is a recurring brunch theme and the meal is served 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Further south, at Shirlington’s Copperwood Tavern in Arlington, a-la-carte brunch offers a variety of choices.
Fish & Fire Food Group, which operates the The Tavern at Ivy City Smokehouse, Tony & Joe’s Seafood Place, Nick’s Riverside Grill and The Point, which was recently opened in Buzzard Point in Washington is kicking off patio season in May and also celebrating National Military Appreciation Month, giving a 10% discount on all meals to active service members and veterans (with proper ID).
Smokecraft Modern Barbecue is helping local diners with their holiday spreads by offering build-you-own meals. An expanding menu at the Arlington, Va.-based eatery will include whole smoke ducks and smoked legs of lamb. Of course, being the National Turkey Federation Turkey Smoke Grand Champions that they are, the the Smokecraft team will also offer their award-winning whole smoked turkey.

Jinya Ramen Bar will be adding new dishes as part of its holiday menu. In addition, the Japanese-style ramen restaurant and bar will offer two new cocktails, the Sassy Old Fashioned and Winter Blossom. Its four locations in Metropolitan Washington are serving up thee new drinks and also serving a new Soft Shell crab Bun and a Spicy Maze-Men bowl.
Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken added Red Velvet doughnut, Gingerbread Pear doughnut, Christmas Cookie doughnut, and Chocolate Candy Cane doughnut to the menu during December. As part of annual, holiday tradition, the gifted-doughnut maker is also featuring mini-doughnut boxes. Astro Doughnuts Mini Boxes started pre-selling December 2.
A pop-up eatery, a market pop-up and a workshop are sure to stir up excitement and feelings of nostalgia as we approach the holidays. First, La Famosa Restaurant, which is set to open in spring 2020, plans a pop-up restaurant November 16. Then, Estuary and the Conrad Hotel team up with She Loves Me for a wreath-making class, complete with pick-me-up toddies. Finally, Calico will host a pop-up market in its backyard, with abundant holiday festivities and a Christmas tree lot.
