Tiki TNT at the District Wharf is celebrating National Rum Day, Tuesday, August 16 with all-day specials. The Polynesian-style cocktail “dive” will feature owner Tod Thrasher’s award-winning rum and Happy Hour Daiquiris at half price.
New, aged rum becomes sixth rum in Thrasher’s Rum line
Todd Thrasher, founder and owner of Potomac Distilling Company and former scuba dive master, will release a new rum in August. Relaxed Rum is the sixth rum in the collection. The rum is aged in barrels for 24 months as part of a process Thrasher prefers to describe as a “relation period.”
`There’s been a lot of news in the nation’s capital surrounding Tiki bars as of late. The tiki-bar-influenced Coconut Club from restaurateur Adam Greenberg is coming to Union Market in Washington, D.C. later this year. Another big story with some Tiki-Bar influence has been developing at the District Wharf: the December opening of highly-anticipated Potomac Distilling Company. In the heart of the bustling waterfront, the distillery will represent a three-story production facility, producing four styles of Thrasher’s Rum. Nestled in the building will be a neighborhood tavern to be known as Tiki TNT.
