Tiki TNT at the District Wharf is celebrating National Rum Day, Tuesday, August 16 with all-day specials. The Polynesian-style cocktail “dive” will feature owner Tod Thrasher’s award-winning rum and Happy Hour Daiquiris at half price.
Tigerella opened today at Western Market. The Italian-themed restaurant and bar will serve customers between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. The creators of Mount Pleasant’s Elle brought the project to life. The eatery, headed by chef Vincent Falcone, will add dinner service in early September.
As National Oyster Day approaches, Silver Spring’s All Set Restaurant and Bar will offer a special menu. It will put the spotlight on five Oysters Rockefeller, served with pecan smoked bacon and creamed spinach.

Zachary Ridenhour returns to Trummer’s, having been recently named executive chef. Ridenhour was part of the opening team of the Clifton, Va. restaurant under a team headed by chef Clay Miller 13 years ago.
RAMMYS returns in pre-pandemic format, bringing local restaurant industry together
The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) celebrated local restaurant industry professionals Sunday, July 24 with the RAMMY Awards. The DMV food scene’s brightest were honored on stage, receiving their awards. It was the first time they were able to gather in regular fashion after a modified event in 2021 and virtual-only events in 2020.
Angel Barreto of Anju, former chef of Himitsu Janny Kim take over kitchen for July event
Tiger Fork will return its Night Market in 2022. The July 28 event at the Blagden Alley restaurant will see the likes of Angel Barreto of Anju and Janny Kim of Jailbreak Brewing Company as visiting chefs. The lively Night Market, taking place from 7 p.m. to midnight, aims to take diners on a sensory trip to Hong Kong.

Mexican restaurant dLeña in Washington’s Mount Vernon Triangle opened its new outdoor patio for the summer. The patio will seat 80 and boasts ceiling fans and special lighting. In addition it will feature precipitation sensors to shield the patio automatically during bad weather.
Weekly gatherings feature pop-up food, DJ music
Malaysian-inspired sports bar Thirsty Crow will be hosting its Eats and Beats pop-up series this summer. During July, Mondays will be dedicated to the special gatherings for guests from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The remaining pop-ups this month will feature dishes from Chef Marco Salierna of Churros Taqueria and Chef Matthew Gaston’s Afro-Portuguese concept ‘Frango.”
