Neighborhood gem in DC shines after renovations

Hotel Madera, nestled in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington DC, recently underwent extensive renovation and modernization that was completed in February 2021. The hotel building, at 1310 New Hampshire Ave NW, was originally an apartment complex before it was transformed in the 1990’s. Then, five years after its debut, the beloved neighborhood restaurant Firefly opened its doors inside the hotel.

Jack Rose Dining Saloon will host the third annual Premier Drams Whiskey Festival, a celebration of cask-strength, new and rare. Owner Bill Thomas is readying the June event, which will have 15+ curated stations of unique bourbons, ryes, scotches and international whiskeys, plus new bottle unveilings. Blind tastings are also in the works, and expect craft cocktails, distiller meet-and-greets and more.
