District Wharf’s Pendry Washington DC unveiled

Unique in design, packed with amenities, Pendry Washington DC to stand out among accommodations in nation’s capital

Pendry Hotels & Resorts has opened the Pendry Washington DC at The District Wharf. This is the first time the luxury hotel brand has been represented in the nation’s capital. The new hotel features 131 amazing guestrooms and suites.

Pendry Washington features three dining and bar concepts, which include a pool terrace and rooftop cocktail lounge with panoramic views. Amenities include Spa Pendry, a fitness center that is state of the art, a curated art collection. Furthermore, the Wharf-situated hotel’s indoor and outdoor meeting & event space spans 7,500 square feet.

Pendry DC design

ODA designed the architecture and the DesignAgency, the interiors. The Pendry “effortlessly blends European-inspired sensibility and contemporary hospitality with light interiors grounded by timeless touchpoints such as old-world flooring, metal detailing and plush textiles throughout,” according to an announcement.

The interiors reflect a “timeless European grandeur.” They reflect a residential design that is meant to convey a certain aesthetic and warmth. The design also reinterprets the architectural principles of the iconic colonnades and limestone buildings for which the capital is known. This reimagination leads to a modern and sophisticated design, that Pentry notes, which is enhanced by soft integrated lighting throughout.

“For many years we have looked for the ideal location to place our flag in our nation’s capital,” said Alan J. Fuerstman, founder, chairman and chief executive of Montage International, the hotel parent and management company. “The Wharf is one of the most vibrant and innovative mixed-use developments in the country, and we look forward to welcoming our global guests and the local community to experience Pendry in one of the most dynamic cities.”

The rooftop restaurant and bar, Moonraker, presents a Japanese-inspired menu with flavorful light bites such as Tokyo fried chicken, yellowtail sashimi and specialty rolls. These are served with Japanese whisky and bespoke cocktails from a curated menu of inspired selections. Moonraker also boasts some of the best Potomac waterfront views in the city. Its scenery is enhanced by “dramatic interiors including a stunning circular bar lit from above that features a chandelier of cascading brass pendants.” Flanked by bold, black and white geometric floors, they present a symmetry of endless views and a wall of arched mirrors. The atmosphere is quite apropos for the live music and DJ sets that Pendry has planned for the late-night Wharf scene.

Bar Pendry combines layers of velvet, antiqued mirror, brushed bronze accents and a vintage mantel carved from dark Emperador marble

Bar Pendry’s moody blue and crimson hues signal the designer’s presentation of this classic hotel bar’s grand presence set in modern format. Just off the lobby, Bar Pendry combines layers of velvet, antiqued mirror, brushed bronze accents and a vintage mantel carved from dark Emperador marble, per a statement. The bar is an escape from the noise and tempo of the city, serviced by expert bartenders who have mastered the art of the “perfect cocktail,” says the hotel.

Flora Flora, the onsite Latin American restaurant, draws inspiration from the cuisines of Mexico and Peru. The Wharf restaurant will provide a good selection of small plates that draw inspiration from local farmers and vendors, the hotel shared. Flora Flora will have splendid views overlooking the Potomac River and will connect with the earth and water through its design cues. Lush greenery and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow make this restaurant a unique dining experience. Guests imbibing or dining in the open-air pool deck will be served by Flora Flora as they enjoy the awning-stripe parasols and gaze at the sparkling water below.
