Tiger Fork Night Market returns in 2022

Angel Barreto of Anju, former chef of Himitsu Janny Kim take over kitchen for July event

Tiger Fork will return its Night Market in 2022. The July 28 event at the Blagden Alley restaurant will see the likes of Angel Barreto of Anju and Janny Kim of Jailbreak Brewing Company as visiting chefs. The lively Night Market, taking place from 7 p.m. to midnight, aims to take diners on a sensory trip to Hong Kong.

Borrowing two exciting, talented chefs

Barreto and Kim will heat up the night with their specialty dishes. Barreto will serve a Tangsuyuk pork dish and a Soonde Japchae, with blood sausage. Kim, on loan for one night from Jailbreak Brewing Company, where he runs the culinary program, will prepare Mapo Tofu with 90-day dry-aged beef.

In the past, Tiger Fork had hosted Hello Sando, a popular pop-up from Kim, a former chef at acclaimed Himitsu. Hello Sando served Japanese-style milk bread sandwiches out of the Blagden Alley kitchen.

Tiger Fork Executive Chef Jong Son will be showing off her talents, too. Her JjaJang Tteokbokki and Oxtail Bao will be two flavorful additions to the night’s menu.

Evan Kerschensteiner, Tiger Fork’s beverage director, will serve beer from featured local DC Brau, including the Double Dagger rice lager. The Double Dagger is Tiger Fork’s proprietary collaboration with the brewery. China’s traditional national spirit of Baijiu from Ming River Baijiu will also be on hand.
