Burtons Grill opens restaurant in Kentlands Market Square

Polished casual-dining chain marks 18th location with Gaithersburg opening, second restaurant in Washington, DC region

Burtons Grill & Bar will open its 18th restaurant in Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg, Md. June 27. The polished, casual-dining chain continues to expand, with locations in eight states. The Market Square, operated by Kimco Realty Corporation, stands as a well-known and premium shopping center for fashion, grocery, dining, entertainment, and personal services.

The 5,000 square-foot restaurant will be well-received at the Gaithersburg shopping center, just minutes from I-270 and the ICC, and in one of DC’s super zip codes. The Kentlands debut follows its first Maryland (and DMV) opening in Riverdale Park in 2018.

The culinary program at the Kentlands Burtons Grill will be headed by Chef Nicholas Jettmar. In the spotlight will be the restaurant chain’s classic dishes, including Crab Crusted Haddock, General Tso Cauliflower and Firecracker Shrimp. Guests will also gravitate toward premium steaks from Allen Bros. of Chicago, as well as favorites, such as true Maryland-Style Crab Cakes. The latter are packed with fresh, premium, super lump crab meat, noted the restaurant’s announcement.

The menu will also include seasonal favorites, like the Roasted Summer Vegetable Bowl and the Turkey Waldorf Salad.

John Haggai, president and chief operating officer at Burtons Grill & Bar and Red Heat Tavern, commented “Following all of the success we’ve had in the past year with the Burtons’ Grill & Bar brand, we are thrilled to be opening another restaurant, even more so because of its location in Kentlands Market Square. We’re excited to be opening a second location for our loyal customers in the state of Maryland.”


A craft cocktail program at the Kentlands Burtons Grill location, with creative and innovative drinks, will also attract attention. Guests can try

  • Jalisco Refresher with Tres Agaves blanco tequila, agave, fresh lime, jalapeño, basil, cucumber, and a Tajín rim
  • Blackberry Mojito with Flor de Caña rum, fresh muddled blackberries, lime, mint, sugar, packed with crushed ice.
  • General Manager Carlos Mercado’s curated wine list. Mercado is a “spirited wine enthusiast” per the restaurant chain, and he selected a wine list with domestic and imported by-the-glass and bottle selections. Plus, craft beers and ciders on draft, in-bottle and canned will also be abundant.

Burtons Grill will open Sunday and Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. starting June 27.
