Milestone celebration for 148th Kentucky Derby, which airs May 7, is nearly here
Jack Rose Dining Saloon brings its 10th Annual Derby Day Celebration + Viewing Party this Saturday, May 7. The location is an ideal spot to watch the Kentucky Derby. Guests will seek out the Adams Morgan destination to catch the 148th Kentucky Derby, with two ways to enjoy it—on site or to go.
At the whiskey destination, the festivities kick off at 3 p.m. and go through 7 p.m. Within its rooftop terrace or in the “whiskey-surrounded indoor Saloon,” guests will be able to enjoy the viewing. Plus, they can sport their finest derby attire that day. Mint juleps, complimentary Southern bites, plenty of Kentucky bourbon will be standard fare for the afternoon.
Insiders know the drill. It is first-come, first-served in the open-air Rooftop Terrace, while ticketed reserved seating tickets are required for the spacious indoor Saloon. It’s a unique place, where one is surrounded by thousands of bottles of whiskey.
Saloon seating, with reservations
The bar will open early at 3 p.m.; both floors will offer a-la-carte menu of classic Mint Juleps made with Bardstown Fusion Series, plus seasonal Strawberry Lavender Juleps & other Southern-inspired cocktails, including a spiked tea punch and peach boulevardier. Jack Rose will also pass around complimentary Derby hors d’oeuvres such as mini Kentucky Hot Browns, deviled eggs & cucumber tea sandwiches throughout the afternoon.
Saloon Reservations go for $30/person, excluding tax & gratuity. The tickets confer each party two-hour indoor reserved seating with direct views of the race on an extra-large projector screen with sound. The ticket holder also gets one round of classic Mint Juleps, and a Derby Platter featuring tea sandwiches, mini hot browns, shrimp cocktail & biscuits. Rooftop Terrace, Julep-To-Go kits
The Rooftop Terrace will welcome guests for a walk-ins-only viewing party, airing the Derby on six flat-screen TVs with sound. The Terrace Jack Rose Derby Day Party if free to attend, but first-come first-served. There will be table and bar seating, plus standing room available. Jack Rose is encouraging guests to don their Derby best: bow ties, seersucker, and big hats!
In addition, the bar announced “Jack Rose has curated a Julep-To-Go cocktail kit ($79, serves 10), which includes a 750ml bottle of their proprietary Nitro-Muddled Mint Juleps made with Bardstown Fusion Series #7 bourbon (with foolproof “shake bottle and pour over ice” instructions), plus one bag each of pebbled ice, fresh mint and powdered sugar…. Julep-To-Go Kits can be pre-ordered via Tock, with scheduled pickups on 5/6 and 5/7.”
