Nick’s Riverside Grill features Detroit-style pizzas, Tony and Joe’s hosts 2021 Shuck It celebration

Oyster and Beer festival returns in October

Nick’s Riverside Grill is featuring Detroit-style pizzas. Detroit-style pies have been trending, a perfect comfort food for the start of fall. At its sister, Fish and Fire Food Group concept, Tony & Joe’s, the 2021 Shuck it! Oyster & Beer Festival of Georgetown will take place in October, with some COVID precautions in place, for added safety and comfort.

The thick-crust pies at Nick’s Riverside Grill are baked in blue-steel pans and offered in four varieties, including: margherita, for $16, topped with fresh mozzarella, basil and cherry tomatoes; classic pepperoni, for $18; a fun take of shrimp scampi, for $20; and pork & fennel sausage drizzled with parmesan and provolone cheese, for $18.

Tony & Joe’s Seafood Place will once again host the Shuck It! Oyster & Beer Festival Saturday, October 23, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The shellfish celebration benefits Earth Conservation Corp. and is an experience to be enjoy by those with shellfish proclivities.

Expert shuckers will dish up the freshest raw, grilled and fried oysters. Watch for 12 different oysters from the local Chesapeake, Northeast, and West Coast regions, with an abundance of succulent specialties. Early bird tickets start at $55. For the safety of all participants, this 21+ event will require attendees to show valid ID and proof of vaccination for entry.
