Green Spiced Rum is first botanical rum
A “herbaceous, floral and aromatic” rum, produced by Washington’s Potomac Distilling Company, landed on Wine Enthusiast magazine’s “Top 100 Spirits” in the Rum Category. Tiki Thrasher’s Green Spiced Rum, a botanical-based aromatic, also has hints of green citrus, according to the District Wharf-based company.
From scuba-diving enthusiast to rum maker, Potomac Distilling’s Todd Thrasher has led a life that is literally rum filled. But the Rum & Tonic, made with this special green rum, influenced by his adventures in the South Pacific, might be out-of-worldish, rather than designed for the islands.
Polynesian-style cocktail bar Tiki TNT is part of the three-story urban, waterfront distillery known as Potomac Distilling Company. The four styles of rum, which come in White, Spiced, Green Spiced, and Coconut, are on the rise and DC born.
