Metro-Washington, DC restaurants offer Thanksgiving dinners to simplify the holiday

DC-area residents can ditch the cooking, basting

Several area restaurants are serving up a care-free Thanksgiving meal in to-go fashion to nourish residents and visitors in the Metro-Washington area. Money Muscle BBQ, EatWell’s Commissary, Oyster Oyster, and St. Anselm are offering Thanksgiving feasts in 2020 in and around the District of Columbia.

The Silver Spring barbecue food truck Money Muscle BBQ plans a nice Thanksgiving package that be taken home and converted into a delightful spread. The dinner for four, priced at $150, offers a choice of Smoked Turkey, Oven Roasted Ham or Prime Rib as main entrees. Add skillet cornbread and Parkerhouse Rolls for good measure. The dinner four comes packed with sides, such as mashed potatoes, garlic string beans, and brioche muffin

Some sweet desserts, including sweet potato pie, chocolate chip cookies, or Junior’s NY Cheesecake for dessert. Money Muscle BBQ also offers side as add-on purchases for an incremental charge. Customers should place orders by Sunday, November 22 for pickup between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25. Check out the menu here.

Commissary DC’s parent company, EatWell, offers two dinner meal packages, for $60 or $120, serving two or four people, respectively. The dinner packages include turkey & gravy , mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, caramelized brussels, butternut squash, and cranberry sauce. Dessert choices are a sweet finish: pumpkin crisp or pecan pie. There are also various a-la-carte options available.

For larger parties, EatWell is preparing a feast for six to eight people. This package includes a 8 lb.-12 lb. turkey & gravy, seasonal salad, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, caramelized brussels, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, with dessert choices of pumpkin crisp or pecan pie.

Oyster Oyster, a plant-based concept by Max Kuller, is pulling out all the stops with its on-the-go Thanksgiving meal. Chef Rob Rubba is turning the traditional dinner into plant-based cookery! All dishes come fully prepared and include specific reheating instructions. Vegan and sans-oyster customization is possible and available, as well.

The $100 (for two people) and $180 (for four) dinners include the following:

  • Celery Root and Black Truffle ‘Roast’ with confit shallot, parsley, and 12-vegetable gravy
  • Stuffed Winter Squash, filled with smoked oysters and brown butter-bread stuffing
  • Creamed Mushrooms and winter greens, with frizzled onions
  • Roasted Sweet Potatoes, with benne-miso, maple, and rosemary

Over at St. Anselm, there’s a $60 per-person Turkey dinner with gravy or Ax Handle Ribeye Dinner for $85 per person. Enjoy buttermilk biscuits, baby gem salad with cranberries, apples, walnuts and blue cheese; and roasted mushroom soup as part of the bundle. Diners can take a pick of five sides with their dinner: candied yams with marshmallows and pecans, brioche stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, and roasted brussels sprouts.

Optional a-la-carte dessert and beverage choices are also part of the holiday menu. Submit your Thanksgiving order to St. Anselm by Monday November 23 for pickup on Tuesday November 24 after 3pm, or by Tuesday November 24 for pickup on Wednesday November 25 after 3 p.m.
