New, intimate reception to be held in September
The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) rescheduled the 2020 RAMMYS in Washington DC to September 20 at the Walter E. Convention Center. The event, which recognizes the local restaurant industry’s best, also provides a way to celebrate the achievements of Metropolitan Washington restaurants. Prior to the health crisis, the event had last been scheduled to take place July 26 in the same venue.
Amid an ongoing pandemic, the 38th annual RAMMY Awards event format will become a smaller, more intimate event. RAMW has announced that they will follow safety guidance in place at the time and include a modified version of the reception for finalists, sponsors, and select members of the media.
“In this year, where restaurants have encountered so much, The RAMMYS have even greater significance as they are an opportunity to rebuild, to create marketing visibility where it is needed, and to engage partners to be part of that industry resurgence,” said Kathy E. Hollinger, RAMW president and chief executive, in an emailed announcement.

“Just like restaurant operators had to rethink their businesses this year, The RAMMYS too will approach this moment to focus on industry relief, to acknowledge the creativity and strength of our local operators, and to creatively rethink the event and its purpose this year to deliver a unique experience and to drive needed recovery.”
