The Washingtonian Magazine 100 Very Best Restaurants list was released

Rankings feature eclectic mix of eateries around DC

More and more restaurants in the Washington, DC. Region have been at their best in recent years, and there’s a coveted list these owners and chefs look forward to landing on. And it’s out: The 2020 Washingtonian 100 Very Best Restaurants rankings feature Anju at the top and spotlight many newcomers, including Cane by Chef Peter Prime, which have been impresive in the past year. Anju is the latest venture by the Fried Rice Collective and its founders, Danny Lee, Scott Drewno and Andrew Kim. Getting a seat in this cozy Dupont Circle restaurant just got a lot harder.

Washingtonian Food Editor Anna Spiegel and writers Jessica Sidman and Cynthia Hacinli dined at over 300 locations, they said, in a year-long research journey in 2019. They ended up with a list of 130 restaurants and further narrowed it down to the Vest Best 100. They’re celebrating newcomers, including Green Almond Pantry, Trinidadian destination Cane, and Ivy City fine-dining gem Gravitas.
