Chili, doughnuts, taco bars on tap for big game day
The big game day is approaching as football fans prepare to watch the San Francisco 49ers battle the Kansas City Chiefs. With game day festivities all day long around the nation’s capital on Sunday, February 2, bars and restaurants are also getting in on the action. They’re primed for making it easy for fans to catch Super Bowl LIV, or even help them host their own parties, Take a look at some eateries and bars running with the ball in the Washington, D.C. area.
Jack Rose Dining Saloon rooftop party
Jack Rose Dining Saloon is hosting a watch party. The ticketed event gives an opportunity to catch the Super Bowl on jumo, flat-screen TVs on the heated terrace on the Jack Rose rooftop. Also, $50 will land guests an opportunity for endless Classic Chili, Texas Short Rib Chili and/or Vegetarian Chili. Tickets also offer folks a selection of 15 canned and nine draft beers.
The Classic Chili features ground beef, red peppers, onions and chilies, topped with sour cream, cheddar and scallions, while a Texas Short Rib Chili combines red beans and braised short rib. The Vegetarian Chili features beans, corn and millet. Ticket holders are welcome to enjoy the premium beer selection, as well, according to the restaurant’s release: “Upland Champagne Velvet pilsner; Maduro, a seasonal winter brown ale from Tampa’s Cigar City Brewery; and a white IPA from DC favorite 3 Stars Brewing.”
For those wanting to catch just a few moments of the game, Jack Rose offers an a-la-carte offering with no admission charge. Head to the rooftop after 5 p.m. and enjoy select food and drink options, priced from $6 to $10. For the rooftop tickets, however, head to the jackrosechilibowl2020.eventbrite.com. The rooftop opens at 5 p.m.and ticketed party starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

Astro Doughnuts football ‘moon pies’
Astro Doughnuts is offering a special big game day package. The special offer takes the popular Moon Pie doughnut and decorates it to look like a football and adds buffalo wings to the package. Additionally, the football moon pie doughnuts are available a-la-carte for walk-ins. Moon Pie Football Doughnuts are filled with marshmallow fluff and finished with a dark chocolate glaze.
Also, Astro Doughnuts will offer a limited amount of individual football moon pies for walk-ins. There are two game day packages: 6 Moon Pie “Football” Doughnuts and 24 Buffalo Wings and 24 Buffalo Wings. The doughnut shops only sells the party packages in advance. Astro Doughnuts operates a store in Falls Church, Va. in addition to its carry-out location on G Street in D.C.

Chadwick’s upstairs watch party
Chadwick’s in Old Town Alexandria, Va. will host a Super Bowl watch party. The restaurant is selling tickets to the February 2nd event, which will take place in its upstairs lounge. Ticket holders will feast on all-you-can-eat food, including a taco bar and snacks, and drink. An 8-foot projector screen will show the big game throughout the evening.
