Supra grilled meats, veggie-forward dishes featured in heart of summer
Georgian restaurant Supra updated its menu for summer 2019 with seasonal dishes and tastes from the grill. The grilled menu features dishes like the Chicken Bazhe. Supra grills the chicken in a walnut sauce, and then serves it on a grilled flatbread with cucumber and fresh herbs. The Shaw, Washington, D.C. restaurant is also featuring Grilled Chicken Wings, served with a savory blackberry sauce and Turkish peppers.
The kupati roll, which is a formidable, Supra version of the DC halfsmoke and the khahapuris can both still be had for less than $10 each. The happy hour is a refreshing take on evening bites. There’s the Chvishtari, with corn fritters a smoked sulguni—brined Georgian cheese—lemon-mint yogurt sauce and red ajika.
Supra’s happy hour menu also features the Tiflis Salad, a medley of salad greens, cucumber, tomato, crumbled gouda cheese, fresno peppers, topped with lemon-tarragon dressing. All happy hour beer, wine and cocktail selections are priced under $8. Check out the happy hour menu here.

Supra’s dinner menu has been beefed up. The Shaw eatery has another new, grilled dish, the Grill Platter. Guests can sample the flavors of kupati, pork ribs and grilled wings. The Supra Grill Platter comes with potatoes and a variety of Georgian condiments for dipping.
Just right for summer are two additional veggie-centric dishes, Sazamtro Salad and Mtsvane Lobio Purit. Supra’s Sazamtro Salad features cold watermelon and green-ajika yogurt dressing. The Mtsvane Lobio Purit is Georgia’s version of the Panzanella salad, comprising green beans and tomatoes. Supra’s regular are sure to embrace a new take on the popular Khachapuri. The new version includes oyster and cremini mushrooms.
