Chef Mike Cordero brings Rockwood Sports Bar to Gainesville, Va.
Chef Mike Cordero’s MacNac Hospitality opened the Rockwood Sports Bar May 31 at 7505 Iron Bar Lane. The sports-themed restaurant is almost 5,000 square feet and serves gourmet American food and signature craft cocktails. This is Coredero’s eighth eatery in Northern Virginia. Rockwood’s contemporary industrial aesthetic, designed by Yvette Irene, seats 200 guests between three full bars, 50 barstools, 40 indoor tables and 20 outdoor tables.
Additionally, there are two large patios, one with a beer garden theme and the other with a more relaxed vibe, creating a more intimate setting. Semi-private spaces are also available.
The menu features locally sourced ingredients and sauces and marinades are made using Cordero’s special recipes. On the featured menu are Cordero’s famous wings, Southern friend chicken, pork belly Cuban sandwiches and bacon-chicken fritters with chipotle radish sauce. There are also several desserts at Rockwood, one of the most popular being the red velvet milkshake. Along with an array of cocktails, Rockwood also offers daily deals, late night menus and live entertainment in par with rotating specials.
“Rockwood is an exciting sports bar that is perfect for watching the game or unwinding outside with a cocktail,” says Cordero. “We’re thrilled to bring our original concept to Virginia Gateway and offer the Gainesville community our American comfort food classics.”
Rockwood is open Monday-Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. for brunch and dinner. For more information on Rockwood, visit its website.
